Budget and Treasury Office

The Budget and Treasury Office is a core financial management division within Dr. Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma Municipality. It ensures that the municipality’s finances are planned, managed, and reported on in a transparent, accountable, and sustainable manner.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Budget Planning and Management – Preparing and monitoring the municipal budget in alignment with national legislation and local development priorities

  • Revenue and Expenditure Control – Managing income generation, billing, and payment systems while overseeing responsible expenditure practices

  • Financial Reporting and Compliance – Ensuring accurate financial records, reports, and audits in line with the Municipal Finance Management Act (MFMA)

  • Supply Chain Management – Overseeing procurement processes to ensure fairness, competitiveness, and service delivery efficiency

  • Asset and Cash Flow Management – Safeguarding municipal assets and ensuring healthy cash flow for operational stability
