It is my singular honour and humbling privilege to welcome all of you in general and the local government leadership and practitioners in particular, to this October SALGA Provincial Members Assembly, welcome to the Dr Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma Municipality and welcome to the Southern Drakensberg under the theme “ Engage, Influence and Inspire”, we are honoured to host the 2 day SALGA Provincial Members Assembly.

Programme Director let me begin my welcome address by informing you that our municipality is guided by our vision which is to be a well governed quality service provider.

Fellow South Africans,

I am addressing you this evening on a matter of great national importance.

The world is facing a medical emergency far graver than what we have

experi-enced in over a century.

The World Health Organisation has declared the coronavirus outbreak as a

global pandemic.

There are now more than 162 000 people who have tested positive for the

coronavirus across the globe.

Given the scale and the speed at which the virus is spreading, it is now

clear that no country is immune from the disease or will be spared its

severe impact.

The coronavirus is wreaking havoc across the world and Dr Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma Municipality is no exception.

In light of the above mentioned, municipal offices will be closed with effect from the 03rd August 2020 (Monday) & services will resume on Wednesday 5th of August 2020. The municipality will use this period to disinfect and to ensure that the municipal offices are ready to resume public operations.

During the disinfection and deep cleaning of the buildings, all employees working at the two affected buildings are encouraged to work from home during the temporary closure period and take the necessary precautionary measures where necessary to observe occupational health and safety directives and protocols related to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Position: SCM Contract Management Officer

Remuneration: R 180 000. 00 P.A Plus Normal Municipal Benefits

Minimum Requirements:

  • Senior Certificate (Grade 12)
  • National Diploma in Accounting or any other relevant qualification
  •  A minimum of 02 – 03 years relevant experience.
  • Computer Literacy,
  • Fluency in both English & Isizulu
  • Valid driver’s licence
  • Good Communication and Interpersonal Skills
  • Knowledge of Local Government Legislations and be able to execute tasks associated with this post in line with SCM Regulations.

Personal Assistant to the Deputy Mayor

Position: Personal Assistant to the Deputy Mayor

Duration: ONE (01) Year Contract

Remuneration: R 136 512. 00 P.A Plus Normal Municipal Benefits

Minimum Requirements:

  • Senior Certificate (Grade 12)
  • National Diploma in Office Administration or any other relevant qualification
  • A minimum of 01 year relevant experience
  • Excellent computer skills, particularly MS Word, MS Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Good telephone etiquette skills.
  • Be fluent in both isiZulu and English.
  • Ability to work under pleasure and extended hours
